Basketball has long
been one of many passions in Erik’s life, and has gained much
experience as a player and a coach.
He began playing as a small child and continues to play today. Erik
was always a varsity participant in basketball at Clarke Community
High School in Osceola, IA, where he lettered three years. Coach
Lowe also earned all-conference and all-area honors in his junior
and senior years, as well as being named a team captain during his
senior year of high school.
Erik was fortunate to be able to continue playing basketball at
Luther College in Decorah, IA. He played for four years at Luther,
three of them as a varsity starter and three times being named the
team’s Defensive MVP. Erik’s senior year, he was named a team
captain.
Erik is entering his fourth year of coaching basketball in Edina,
and fifth year of coaching overall. He is excited to be able to work
with this year’s varsity on a as the head assistant.
Erik is entering his fourth year of teaching in the Edina school
district. He teaches 9th grade government at South View Middle
School.
His best supporter throughout the basketball season is his wife,
Jen. She is always willing to endure the long hours of practice and
games, and has completely made the switch from being a Jefferson
Jaguar alum to an Edina Hornet fan! Jen is a hair stylist at Spalon
Montage in Chanhassen.
